Questions We Often Answer > Slicing > How should I slice a round loaf?

The best way to slice a round loaf is in a herringbone pattern continuously alternating sides.  This will yield fairly equal sized slices throughout the loaf instaed of the some tiny some huge slices produced by cutting straight across the loaf.  Check out our bags.  The herringbone slicing pattern is illustrated there.
